Within my thick walls, Elisabeth Kaldeway (1979) focuses on a theme that is important for her as it is for me: people. People that are looking for contact, people who give, people that take, feed, feel and bleed. People that are alone, people that are bored, people who are afraid, sleep, dream, play, walk, fight, lean, love, search, kiss, tease or stay silent. She does this by combining different materials and techniques and experimenting with and combining different media. “What I try to keep my focus on is to make it a complete image.

ONE FRAME AT A TIME

Het Kleinste Kamertje

"One frame at a time"  An archive of portraits created over five years, emerging from a practice that resists the instantaneous. Each photograph requires extended exposure time, inviting subjects into a temporal space outside the rhythm of daily life.  In the stillness required by the camera, something shifts. Participants encounter their own breath, involuntary movements, the effort of holding presence. What begins as a technical constraint becomes an unexpected threshold, a pause where accelerated time momentarily suspends.
