This project for Exboot talks about the bodily pleasure with the absence of the body. The artist explore the topic under the context of their experience as non-binary person. The liminality of their body aligns with the key experience with pleasure which dwells only on the border of land and water, indulgence and restriction. We hear the whisper of the pleasure under the water meanwhile we know the land is where we can stand on. We wet our shoes. We linger and we walk along the river. But what will be wet when a ghost floating along the river? what will be left when the body is missing?

Maybe I was too impatient, or the movement too subtle

Last January, Indira de Boer spent two weeks walking through the Himalayas. This physical journey formed an artistic research process focused on the relationship between human, material, and landscape. During this trek, the artist explored how meaning-making shifts when the human scale is decentered in relation to the overwhelming presence of non-human entities.De Boer is interested in situations where form and structure meet under constraint. Rather than working with natural objects as given forms, they construct conditions that test how materials behave. Meaning is not predetermined; instead, each work is approached as a situation in which material can actively participate in the production of meaning.

The sand path museum

I cherish both my present and my past. Besides a space for high-profile art, one of my rooms also houses the Zandpad Museum. Here, I'll tell you about my illustrious past and introduce you to people who know me well—inside or out. Sit on my stool, gaze out the window, and listen to the many stories surrounding my life.

Short documentary 'The Sand Path'

The Zandpad Museum is screening a short documentary about the history of the Zandpad. You'll also find numerous audio clips of conversations with various people involved, including a former sex worker and former mayor Aleid Wolfsen.

This Zandpad documentary was made by Sylvie Kamphuis & Jaap Pronk (director), Bram Engelaar (camera), Doenja Abel (production), Twan Bracco Gartner (music), and Bald Beeld (editing). Thanks to the interviewees: Aleid Wolfsen (former mayor of the Municipality of Utrecht), Brenda Oude Breuil (criminologist at Utrecht University), Jannie Teunissen (De Tussenvoorziening), the former sex worker, and the former client of Zandpad. The documentary was made possible in part by the Municipality of Utrecht, KF Heinfonds, Mondriaanfonds, and RTV Utrecht.
