Luka Slijkerman (Utrecht, 1996) is a visual artist creating spatial installations and sculptures that explore the themes of decay (and its aesthetic value), faded glory, and nostalgia. The transition that objects and buildings make from financially valuable to emotionally valuable is also a recurring theme. Slijkerman primarily works with accessible materials such as concrete, tiles, zip ties, and objects found on the street or in thrift stores. He transforms and assembles these, evoking new meanings. Slijkerman situates his work both within the confines of the "art world" and in public spaces to explore the meaning of context for his work and art in general.

De sculpturale installatie ‘Vergane Gloria’ is het resultaat van Slijkermans beeldende onderzoek naar thema’s als verval en zintuigelijke herinneringen. In dit proces heeft hij steeds opnieuw gezocht naar de visualisatie van deze thema’s. De verschillende sculpturen zijn ontstaan door in verschillende materialen en vanuit verschillende perspectieven te werk te gaan. In het bijzonder gebruikte Slijkerman de negatieve ruimtes van bestaande voorwerpen als speelgoed en verpakkingen en transformeerde op die manier bestaande vormen in nieuwe materialen. De installatie was al te zien op Slijkermans afstudeertentoonstelling, maar zal zich in Ex-Boot weer opnieuw vormen naar de ruimtelijke context waardoor het nieuwe zeggingskracht op zal doen.
