With without hands

During the exhibition ‘With without hands’ the project ‘Tides’ will be shown. It is the animation project with which Fleur Sophie graduated from the HKU. It is based on the animation technique stop-motion, whereby photos are made of objects that are slightly moved for every new photo. By displaying these photos in sequence the typical suggestion of movement is created.

‘Tides is a short comedic animated film about a worm farmer who gets help from an unexpected ally.

the escalator is always rolling

Every day the same game repeats itself, at the same time and place as yesterday, just with different players. Your body gets absorbed into the flow of the rush hour, while your mind is disconnected. As the train leaves the station, you take your seat in the midst of absent gazes. ‘the escalator is always rolling’ is an exploration of the mental numbness of repetition, predictability and the drag of going somewhere that doesn't fulfill you.
