Een machine, is dat iets dat je moet uitleggen? Gezien alle vragen die erover worden gesteld, misschien wel. Wat is een machine precies? Hoe werkt het? Waar wordt het voor gebruikt? De meeste willen het begrijpen en verklaren. Maar misschien is het interessanter om er zelf achter te komen, om zonder handleiding te ontdekken wat een machine doet en hoe deze functioneert. Schets een beeld, denk aan een machine in werking. De wielen piepen terwijl ze draaien, de scharnieren kraken bij elke beweging. Het gas wordt opengedraaid en met een vonk schiet het vuur aan. De lucht vult zich met de scherpe geur van smeltend plastic. De vegan barbecue staat aan.

Huff & Puff

Noud Boogaard

HKU alumnus Noud van den Boogaard investigates how meaning takes shape and how space, actions, and materials influence that process. Repetition and truth play a key role in his models. These models are more than miniatures: they explore the relationship between material and meaning, while simultaneously creating distance and perspective, conviction and disorientation. Through a careful layering of references, Van den Boogaard constructs a world that constantly refers back to itself. Upon closer inspection, one space appears to be part of the next. The result is an installation that constantly questions itself, folds inward, and gradually dissolves all certainty.
