In her exhibition ‘foxhole alfresco’ Sandra Heemskerk tries to reveal various structures and systems that make up a personal identity. “At some points in our lives we start to wonder: how did I end up here? By returning, filling the gaps and adding fabrications, we build a story around our existence”, Heemskerk explains. With her work she attempts to become friends with me, EXbunker. By telling her stories on my walls, hoping that I entrust her with some of my memories. The exhibition ‘foxhole alfresco’ displays wall paintings and new spatial work.

Tagine and Tulips

Tagine and Tulips tells the story of my bi-cultural identity, inspired by my grandmother’s journey as a first-generation Moroccan woman in the Netherlands. By merging Moroccan craftsmanship with Dutch traditional dress into textiles and form, I create a dialogue between past and present, heritage and environment. My work is an ode to migration, cultural blending and the richness of growing up bicultural. It reveals stories that often remain unseen and invites recognition and connection. For me, fashion serves as a social instrument and becomes a bridge between worlds where identity is not fixed but constantly evolving.
