In her practice Sarah Fokke explores ways to visualize the interrelationship between human beings and nature itself. Mostly working with locally found, natural materials, she tries to deeply connect with our natural environment. By involving these natural materials, the works are alive and change over time. The beauty and elusiveness of this transformation and temporality of the works, are an essential part of her work.

The Watery Body

De installatie ‘The Watery Body’ reflecteert op de fysieke relatie tussen ons menselijk lichaam en de natuurlijke wereld om ons heen. Water – een belangrijk materiaal wat in deze installatie is gebruikt – is een element wat deze onderlinge verbinding die we hebben met alle levende wezens zichtbaar en tastbaar maakt. Het menselijk lichaam bestaat voornamelijk uit water, het stroomt door ons heen, neemt de tijdelijke vorm van ons lichaam aan en stroomt vervolgens verder de wereld in. In dit werk stelt Sarah zichzelf de vraag waar het lichaam begint en eindigt, wanneer het water ons allemaal verbindt, door ruimte en tijd.
