Lars Pubben is an artist from Utrecht.
In his artistic practice, he explores what connects him to the themes that engage him, whether they involve personal fears or broader social and political issues. He investigates his own position within these topics, embracing the subjectivity of personal experience to encourage audiences to reflect on their own relationships to the subjects he brings to light.
A recurring thread in his work is the search for connections between memory, history, and reality. Through minimalist installations and compelling theatrical performances, he creates experiences that place the spectator at the centre, inviting them to become active participants in the work.
In his recent piece, BROOS, he created an interactive installation that examines the fragility of memory and the anxiety that comes with losing it, as well as the emotional weight of holding on to certain moments. Like sandcastles, memories are not eternal — and, much like the tides of the ocean, time gradually erodes them until nothing remains.
