For some years now, Fien has lived in a caravan and sometimes she refers to that time as the time in which she learned how to see. Inspired by the grandness of the sky, the slow pace of changing light and the vastness of an empty horizon, Fien’s work is an exploration of the ungraspable, the ephemeral and the abstraction of the atmosphere surrounding us and of that which rests within us. In her practice she tries to create spaces, not with walls or a ceiling but with feelings, rhythms and sensations – spaces in which one has the peace to let everything go, not be in the future or the past but right here and now. Fien believes that if we pay attention to the world around us, it can help us connect back to a deeper part of ourselves that we might have lost track of in the busy world we live in.
